The Clinical Skills Centre hosts a number of surgical training courses during the year. Developed and taught by leading Consultants, each course provides in-depth theory and the opportunity to practise a variety of surgical techniques in a modern lab environment.

SRMOs and Set 1-3 Trainees preferred

Set 4-5 Trainees welcome to apply.

Aims

Junior trainees often don’t get the opportunity to perform a bowel or vascular anastomosis in the theatre. The aim of this course is to provide systematic teaching with a practical hands-on session.

 

Specific Objectives:

On completion of the course participants will be familiar with:

  • Hand Sewn Anastomosis (side to side, end to end)

  • Stapled Anastomosis

  • Combination of both techniques

  • Colon to rectum circular stapled anastomosis

  • Vascular anastomosis techniques

  • Practical Laboratory

Maximum Participants

The first 12 registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Subsequent registrations will be placed on a waitlist in order of receipt.
