Use of Equipment and instruments
SCSSC equipment and instruments
SCSSC has a wide variety of medical and surgical equipment and instruments available to users. This is included in the facility hire charge. Please contact SCSSC for more information.
All SCSSC equipment and instruments are tested regularly during our programs. SCSSC does not guarantee compatibility with outside equipment and instruments.
Outside equipment and instruments
Program organisers and sponsors are encouraged to bring their own equipment and instruments to their programs; however, we cannot guarantee that outside equipment and instruments will work with SCSSC equipment and environment. It is therefore crucial that organisers/ sponsors set-up and test their equipment on the business day before their program. We will work with you to find a suitable time for this.
To ensure that no outside equipment or instruments are damaged or lost, the organisers/ sponsors are responsible for collecting, organising, cleaning and packing their own equipment and instruments at the end of the program. Organisers/ sponsors will be given priority access to the SCSSC hot washer to assist with this process. If organisers/ sponsors do not complete these tasks, thereby requiring SCSSC staff to perform them, a penalty fee of up to $500.00 per SCSSC staff member per day may be applied.
Sterilisation
SCSSC will apply a flat $200.00 sterilisation fee to any program that uses cadaveric tissue.
This fee includes sterilisation of outside instruments; however, organisers/ sponsors must first collect, organise and hotwash their instruments in preparation for sterilising (see above). SCSSC can then sterilise those instruments on the next business day.
Collection of outside equipment and instruments
Organisers and sponsors are responsible for packing their own equipment and instruments for shipment and for organising pick-up of these items, including labelling of boxes, completing consignment documentation, and organising courier collection.
SCSSC staff will offer all reasonable assistance but are not responsible for supporting outside equipment and instruments but is not responsible for loss or damage.
